Phew.... that's over

Okay, we are on a morphine PCA (patient-controlled analgesia) and we can hit the button every 10 minutes. The epidural is totally out and she is laying calmly. It was a little sad for about an hour as she transitioned but she is finally comfortable. We are trying to keep her respiration in the 20's. When she drops below 14, an alarm goes off and we rub her sternum - she comes right back up. And, if she is sleeping calmly then we don't hit the button since morphine can sink her respiration. As time passes, she will require less and less morphine. We increased her Valium frequency to prevent the painful spasms.

Right now things are going pretty well - thanks again for your prayers.

I have noticed that with each new problem that arises, so does a solution. God is good.
